Sugar and spice and everything nice. These are perfect edible gifts and a brilliant snack as part of your grazing board. They are sweet, sticky, salty with some spice and I can’t stop eating them. You can swap the nuts if you are not an almond fan and omit the chili if you want to keep them sweet only. (No judgment here!) 🤷♀️
-Bag of almonds
-150ml of water/half a cup
-3 tbsp of sugar
-1 tbsp of salt, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, black ground pepper.
-Dry roast almonds in a large hot flat pan until toasted on both sides for a few minutes. Set aside
-In a pan bring the water to a boil and add the sugar until dissolved.
-Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Add the almonds and keep mixing until there is no water left. Any left makes your almond soggy. Note this takes on a medium heat 10-15 minutes of mixing until you end up with a syrup.
-Lay your almonds on a baking tray and with a fork single them all out. Allow to cool down.
-Optional – for a glazed crunch – 10 minutes in an oven for the crispy glaze and they are perfect, sprinkle some cayenne powder whilst they cool down.
-Add to an air-tight container or glass jars to give as presents.
