𝔹𝕒𝕠 π”Ήπ•¦π•Ÿπ•€, β„™π•’π•Ÿ π”½π•£π•šπ•–π•• 𝔹𝕒𝕠 π”Ήπ•¦π•Ÿπ•€ tasty and easy dish

Perfect, easy healthy pan fried steam buns; Bao buns or Sheng Jian bao. Try them for NYE! πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

You know my love for gyoza, dumplings and momos but these are special. Made with a spicy veg and my balsamic roast mushrooms ( see previous post for recipe) filling.

Dough:
-2 Β½ cup all-purpose flour + more for dusting
-β…” cup warm water approx.
-2 ΒΌ tsp instant yeast
-1/2 tsp salt (sugar optional)

Filling:
-I used carrots, spinach, onions, mushroom and spinach.
-Saute the veg in some garlic, chilli and soy and cook well. Season with salt and pepper and add coriander. Add any protein to this.

Method:
-Make the dough mix with a wooden spoon and mix well. Take to a surface and kneed to form a ball. Drizzle some olive oil in the bowl and allow to prove for 45 mins, covered with a damp tea-towel.
-The dough will double in size and roll into long log and equally chop into 12 pieces.
-Roll into a balls and individually roll into a flat circle.
-Take 2 tsp of the filling and place in the middle and pleat and bring the edges together and scrunch tightly.
-Cook into 2 batches, sprinkle some sesame seeds on the pleated side.
-In a hot pan add 3 tbsp of oil and gently fry pleat side down until golden brown.
-Turn them over and add 60ml of water/or until base is covered to steam the buns. Keep the lid on and create steam until the water evaporates.

Eat hot and enjoy with a sprinkle of spring onion, chilli and dipping sauce. Thanks @biancazapatka for the recipe
