This is definitely on my festive menu, in fact for the whole of December. It’s a quick tasty warming dessert, especially when your craving something sweet!
It’s a perfect and easy dessert, it’s season festive with crisp, cinnamon and just fills your room with joy!
Simply using a couple of apples, and a great way to use up any apples in the fruit bowl!
The only question is are you eating this with icecream or custard?
For The Apple Part
* 4 large apples (2 granny smith, 2 sweeter variety)
* 1/3 cup light brown sugar
* 1/3cup granulated sugar
* 3 Tbsp corn starch
* 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
* 1/4 tspground nutmeg
* 2 ground cloves
* 1 tsp salt.
For The Crisp Topping:
* 3/4 cup butter, cut into cubes
* 1 1/2cup old fashioned oats
* 1 1/2 cups flour
* 1/2 cup light brown sugar
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon.
-In a bowl mix together the sugars, cornstarch, spices and salt.
-Slice the apples into thin slices and add to mixture and coat/mix well.
-Add the apples to the buttered dish and arrange in an even layer. Set aside.
-For the crumble, in a bowl stir together the oats, flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Crumble the butter into the mixture until it resembles wet sand and clumps together. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples.
-Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes before reducing the temperature to 350°F and baking for 35 more minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
Any left over? It’s perfect option for next day breakfast granola, or your oat, smoothie bowl.
